Sexual health consultations: an introduction

This module supports you to develop essential knowledge on carrying out basic consultations where you discuss Sexual Health in people aged 13 and over. It will give you the confidence to apply your knowledge in scenarios within the workplace.

This module has primarily been designed for pharmacists working in community and primary care settings. It may also be useful for pharmacists working in other settings.

After completing this module, you should be able to:

  1. Summarise the public health concern of common Sexually transmitted infections (STIs) in the UK (including chlamydia, gonorrhoea, genital warts, genital herpes and syphilis) 
  2. Complete a person-centred sexual health history
  3. Identify when and where to refer people who may need support, testing or treatment for STIs 
  4. Confidently promote STI testing and prevention in your professional practice.
